This catheter is designed to perform lavage on upper rear section of the equine lung. It’s main use is for the detection of "Bleeders" or exercise induced pulmonary hemorrhage. The BAL catheter can also be used for cytology or culturing the airways. The catheter is inserted nasally. The cuff inflated when in position. A 3-way stop cock is used for administration and aspiration of fluid.
