IV Pumps are devices that can be powered electrically or mechanically, they operate in many different ways.  With a syringe pump fluid is held in the reservoir and a piston controls the fluid delivery, in a multi-channel pump, fluids can be delivered from multiple reservoirs at multiple rates, and a smart pump is equipped with safety features such as user alerts or when the user sets the pumps parameters outside specified safety limits.
